ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to the defence of Saudi Arabia under the recently established “Makkah Alliance,” with Pakistani armed forces currently deployed in the Kingdom under the framework of the agreement.
According to the information provided, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry confirmed in an interview with an international news agency that Pakistani military personnel are present in Saudi Arabia across multiple operational capabilities and fields.
He said Pakistani defence personnel have been serving in the Kingdom for decades, describing the current military presence as part of the longstanding diplomatic, political and defence relationship between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.
The DG ISPR, however, did not disclose details regarding the current number of Pakistani troops deployed in Saudi Arabia, their specific capabilities, any possible additional deployments or whether Pakistani forces could have an operational role concerning Houthi forces in neighbouring Yemen.
He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment under the defence agreement that an attack against any one member would be considered an attack against all members, underscoring the collective-defence principle at the centre of the arrangement.
